This is not a CD to
teach math or instruct kids on math facts or multiplication
tables. I did not write any new cute songs to “make math come
alive.” We chose songs that already exist, and we chose them
because they’re good songs and because each one helps kids
experience a different aspect of math. For the most
part, younger children cannot (and I believe should not) deal
with the abstract concepts of math. But songs give them
experiences and that’s what we’re after here. Having had the
experiences in younger ages, they’re more ready for the
concepts later. We’ve never attached songs so closely to
curriculum, so we’d love to know what you think.

days and need reminders of what’s important. A kindergarten
teacher says she will recommend it for the book study group in
her elementary school. The Director of an early childhood
program bought 10 as gifts for her staff. |
